The novel begins with the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 BC and follows the subsequent rise of Augustus, who became the first emperor of Rome. Augustus ruled for over 40 years, during which time he transformed Rome from a republic into an empire.
Augustus was succeeded by a series of emperors, including Nero, Vespasian, and Trajan. Nero was a notorious tyrant who is best known for his persecution of Christians and his burning of Rome in 64 AD. Vespasian was a successful general who restored order to the empire after Nero's reign of terror.
Trajan was one of the most successful emperors in Roman history. He expanded the empire to its greatest extent, conquering Dacia, Armenia, and Mesopotamia. Trajan's reign was a golden age for the empire, during which time Rome reached the height of its power and prosperity.
The Era of Imperial Rome ends with the death of Marcus Aurelius in 180 AD. Marcus Aurelius was a philosopher-emperor who is considered to be one of the greatest rulers in Roman history. He wrote the Meditations, a collection of philosophical reflections that have been widely read and studied for centuries.
The Era of Imperial Rome is a fascinating and informative novel that brings the ancient world to life. The novel is written in a vivid and engaging style that makes it a pleasure to read. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who is interested in history, ancient Rome, or historical fiction.
